Category A Distinguished Scientists

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Conduct a lecture tour in at least two CAS branches (research institutes or universities) in 1-2 weeks
• Invite scientists from CAS to conduct research for 1-3 months at the foreign institution you work for (funded by CAS)

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

• ￥ 50,000 per week

WHO CAN APPLY?

• Well-established and internationally recognized scientists

Category B Visiting Scientists

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Conduct academic visits or cooperative research at CAS for 2-9 months

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

• 40,000 yuan per month for foreign professors or those with equivalent qualifications
• 30,000 yuan per month for foreign associate professors or those with equivalent qualifications
• 20,000 yuan per month for assistant professors or those with equivalent qualifications

WHO CAN APPLY?

• Excellent foreign scholars (at assistant professor level or above) who work in well-known foreign institutions or universities
• Those who are evaluated as excellent at the end of the funding period can be recommended by the CAS host institution to apply for not more than two extensions

Documents Needed

1. Signed application form

2. A recent passport-sized digital photo (in color)

3. Scanned copy of first page of passport with personal information

4. Curriculum vitae

5. Research proposal including but not limited to: collaboration background; objective; detailed description; timetable; predictable results

6. A recommendation letter from CAS host researcher

7. Scanned copy of the highest obtained educational diploma/degree certificate, and/or professional qualification certificates (if applicable)

Application Procedures

1. Applications must be submitted through the main host institution affiliated to CAS. Applications submitted by individuals will NOT be accepted.

2. Applicants should identify an appropriate CAS host researcher working as a faculty member at a CAS-affiliated host institution before application.

3. Applicants should send the application form and all material to the CAS host researcher who will be responsible for submitting the application via our online application system.

4. The PIFI decisions will be announced by June 2023.

Deadline: April 30, 2023

The call will close on April 30, 2023. Applicants should leave enough time for their applications to pass through the host institutions’ submission route before the deadline.
